The Frank Allen Memorial – A new IAWA(UK) Perpetual Trophy

The Frank Allen Memorial Cup

A new perpetual award dedicated to the memory of Frank Allen has been kindly gifted to IAWA(UK) by Steve Andrews, long time training partner and friend of Frank’s for many years.

Influential in Steve Andrews starting his All-Round Weightlifting Career, Frank Allen loved the One Hand Deadlift and it seems apt to recognise his favourite lift in this way.

The Cup will be awarded annually to the Best One Hand Deadlift performed at the Single Arm Championship.

Based on amended points of Age, Sex and Bodyweight.

The award is to be presented for the first time at the Single Arm Champs in Derby on 9th August 2025.

Josh Davidson presented with the Edward Aston Trophy for 2024

Josh Davidson with the Edward Aston Trophy

The presentation of the Edward Aston Trophy was meant to take place at the British Powerlifting Championships in Essex, but unfortunately, Josh was unable to make the competition.

Steve Gardner presented Josh with the Trophy, which is awarded to the lifter with the highest amended total in the Aston ‘set’ – The One Hand Snatch, Front Squat and Continental Clean & Jerk.

The lifts were contested at the Midlands Open All-Round Championships in Grimsby on 4th May 2024.
